Remove glass above door

Hello everyone,

Please excuse me for writing in English, but my Dutch is still not good to write.

I want to remove the skylight glass on top of our bedroom door to replace it with HPL/Plexiglas to block sunlight and make it blackout.

I have followed videos and instructions online, and removing the side slats is done, however, now I am stuck and I can’t remove the glass because it seems to be stuck between the top and bottom slats of the metal door frame.

Can someone explain how could I remove the glass? Many thanks in advance!

There are some springs in the middle bar, pushing the glass up against the ceiling.
You have to press both sides of the glass with your hands (don't push to hard without support, otherwise it will break), and slide the glass downwards till it comes free, than tilt it.

Why don’t you put foil on the glass to block (sun) light? Is is easier, faster, cheaper and no risc of breaking the glass.

Thanks for your responses.

@Walker , I have tried to follow your suggestions, however the top doesn't go out because it's painted on top.

@BertPleizier , that would be plan B.

Probably then you have to cut a line through the paint with a sharp knife. Only the glass should come out.

Honestly I don't want to make a mess by cutting a line through the paint. I appreciate your time in answering me. Most probably I will go with foil or something that looks good.
