Remeha Quinta 28C Continuous CV Water heating and the House

Hello,

It's been a while I notice the boiler keeps warming the house even the main room thermostat is set to 14 degrees C.
The boiler indicates 4 66, which i think the boiler for the waterline is working even when all taps, or faucets are closed.

I saw in some discussions here similar, talking about 3 way valves or checking settings, but they are not clear to me.
Specially that I have not learned Dutch yet and I cannot find an english manual.

Can someone help me what to check in the settings and how to before I go call someone to replace the 3 way valve? (15)

When this happens, i just press the reset button, it works but only temporary.

When 'status' is 4 the quinta works for hot tap water. If there's no tap water flow the quinta stops when temperature reaches 68 degree Celsius.
In your case, the 3 way valve does not direct all the CV water to the heat exchanger for tap water. There's (also) flow to the radiators for heating your house. This will continue until CV temperature reaches 68 degrees.

I don't think there are settings to check, your 3 way valve is worn out and has to be replaced.
It's not a very difficult job, most work is to empty the boiler and refill it afterwards.
There are two parts: the 'motor' part (gray case with wires) and the 'inner work', the mechanical valve. Probably only the mechanical valve has to be replaced.
It's number 15 on the drawing

The motor part looks like this:

Underneath there's the valve part

The spring on the valve part pushes the valve to the right, the motor part can press the spring and move the valve to the left. In your case, the valve does'nt move smoothly and the spring can't push it to the right completely.

Thank you for your response. I never ran out of hot water in the tap, and the heating of the water very seldom stops.
IT stops either if I reset it or I don't know when it does.

But it does run for longer periods of time.

Can it be that the system has too many calcification that causes the stuck up or the spring is end of life?

In one of the radiators, I notice that the lower part is cold and the warm water is only the top level.
Maybe my system needs flushing.

The problem is the 3-way valve does not switch off the circulation to your radiators completely. The valve does'nt return to the right completely.
So there's enough capacity to warm your hot tap water, but when you stop using hot water the boiler does'nt reach 68 degrees with small flames, because it's cooled by the flow through the radiators.
This flow through the radiators can be too small to warm up the radiators completely.
The 3 way valve is subject to wear. calcification isn't nessecery the cause of this wear.
If you replace the valve I think your problem is over.

Hello Advijk,

I called a plumber and he replaced the grey motor. He said it is broken because when he manually switches the white lever it is stuck. He said it should move and return to normal position.
But the issue was resolved, because the burning of the boiler stopped.
But now, I started to feel that even the boiler is now working, the radiator is still a bit warm.
He replaced the mechanical valve..still the problem exist with warmer radiators. ( thermostats are off.)
I noticed too that the pump light is always on. (green) I don't know what to check because I have no English manual. I seem not to trust anymore what the plumber does, because the pump was not like that before. Any advise on what to check?

I think the plumber switched the pump to continious operation to expel air form the boiler after repairs and forgot to switch it back, He only human you know.
Just push the button of the pump to cancel the continiuos operation.

Thanks, yes I saw a similar model in English and tried pressing the + to kill the continuous pump.
Do you think that is the reason why some hot water still goes to the radiator when the thermostat is off?

Yes.
The boiler is heating the warmwater boiler, as soon as the demand for warmwater is over the valve switches to central heating and the remaining heat in the burner is transfered to the radiators.

Thanks. After leaving the radiators on. So far they are not warm anymore. As expected they are at room temperature or lower.
I will monitor further .
