Dear all,
Firstly apologize for not speaking dutch, I'm a fairly new settled immigrant and would very much appreciate local advice.
So in my communal hallway I have a suspicious looking popcorn wall with a crumbling Bannister, when we moved in we knocked the Bannister a few times. It was already in a raw state and when ever it fell there wasn't any clumps or dust coming off. We rested the Bannister on the floor to stop the agitation to stop it getting knocked.
Fast forward a few months later the handyman did come and just raw dogged drilled into wall and fixed new mounts. On top of that my MIL came over once and vacuumed all the Old dust and stuff accumulated on the floor for god knows how long.
My main question is from normal stair case use and the occasional knock for a few months. Was this Bannister spewing up any asbestos Fibers from the plaster, or even the popcorn surface. Which before we even got here was degraded. Anyway my partner nor neighbor are freaking out about it and he lived with it for a while.
Was I exposed to any danger for normal staircase use or is there any future danger, here are some pics to help show what I mean. An unstable joint and the other is the top side Bannister that just falls out with the slightest touch. The house is a 1931* (noordwest utrecht) Dutch house. With a suspected 80s refurb. Some garish orange tiles adorn the front entrance inside.
Cheers again
